Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Telecoms and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 gained 0.07% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the PSI 20 were Galp Energia Nom (LS:GALP), which rose 1.58% or 0.2500 points to trade at 16.0950 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (LS:SEM) added 1.07% or 0.2000 points to end at 18.8600 and Ibersol SGPS (LS:IBS) was up 0.83% or 0.100 points to 12.150 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which fell 1.50% or 0.0800 points to trade at 5.2400 at the close. EDP (LS:EDP) declined 1.08% or 0.0320 points to end at 2.9200 and Mota Engil (LS:MOTA) was down 0.75% or 0.0300 points to 3.9500.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 18 to 18 and 6 ended unchanged.
Shares in Semapa (LS:SEM) rose to all time highs; gaining 1.07% or 0.2000 to 18.8600.
Brent oil for March delivery was up 0.12% or 0.08 to $68.90 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.49% or 0.31 to hit $63.27 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 4.20 to trade at $1317.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1962, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8852.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.24% at 92.01.
