Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Real Estate & Construction and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 1.71%, while the ADX General index lost 0.72%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 7.23% or 0.029 points to trade at 0.430 at the close. Meanwhile, Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) added 2.73% or 0.011 points to end at 0.414 and Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) was up 2.56% or 0.014 points to 0.560 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC), which fell 9.43% or 0.150 points to trade at 1.440 at the close. Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE) declined 4.88% or 0.100 points to end at 1.950 and Emirates NBD PJSC (DU:ENBD) was down 2.80% or 0.210 points to 7.300.
The top performers on the ADX General were Eshraq Properties Co PJSC (AD:ESHR) which rose 10.61% to 0.7300, Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which was up 8.57% to settle at 3.04 and Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which gained 6.17% to close at 1.72.
The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 9.50% to 2.00 in late trade, Finance House (AD:FH) which lost 8.81% to settle at 1.76 and Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 8.48% to 2.05 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 19 to 8 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 20 fell and 7 advanced, while 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oman Insurance Company P.S.C. (DU:OIC) fell to all time lows; down 9.43% or 0.150 to 1.440. Shares in Finance House (AD:FH) fell to all time lows; falling 8.81% or 0.17 to 1.76.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 2.89% or 0.92 to $30.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.80% or 0.60 to hit $32.67 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.06% or 13.00 to trade at $1235.60 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.32% to 4.0337.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.38% at 97.83.
