Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were OCI (AMS:OCI), which rose 3.24% or 0.825 points to trade at 26.280 at the close. Meanwhile, Gemalto (AMS:GTO) added 2.20% or 1.38 points to end at 64.20 and Randstad (AMS:RAND) was up 1.84% or 1.02 points to 56.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AMS:ISPA), which fell 4.32% or 0.31 points to trade at 6.94 at the close. Vopak (AMS:VOPA) declined 2.84% or 1.07 points to end at 36.72 and ASML Holding (AMS:ASML) was down 1.13% or 0.93 points to 81.68.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 81 to 79 and 12 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 0.53% to 29.98.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 4.80% or 2.17 to $47.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 4.05% or 2.02 to hit $52.08 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.13% or 1.50 to trade at $1132.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.21% to 1.1210, while EUR/GBP rose 0.62% to 0.7306.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 96.03.
