Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.67% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which fell 0.10% or 0.020 points to trade at 20.930 at the close. Meanwhile, Gemalto (AS:GTO) fell 0.10% or 0.05 points to end at 51.15 and Akzo Nobel NV (AS:AKZO) was down 0.16% or 0.12 points to 73.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 6.09% or 1.082 points to trade at 16.688 at the close. Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) declined 4.22% or 0.188 points to end at 4.267 and ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) was down 4.03% or 7.30 points to 174.06.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 119 to 14 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) fell to 52-week lows; falling 6.09% or 1.082 to 16.688.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 16.04% to 18.34 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.84% or 0.52 to $61.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 0.28% or 0.20 to hit $70.17 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.36% or 4.55 to trade at $1285.95 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1225, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8615.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 97.160.
