Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.27%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 4.76% or 3.230 points to trade at 71.060 at the close. Meanwhile, Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) added 0.52% or 0.39 points to end at 75.93 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was down 0.08% or 0.02 points to 24.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which fell 5.46% or 0.79 points to trade at 13.67 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 4.54% or 1.040 points to end at 21.890 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) was down 2.51% or 0.128 points to 4.978.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 107 to 25 and 5 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.45% to 15.74 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.23% or 0.11 to $48.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.19% or 0.10 to hit $51.80 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.20% or 2.54 to trade at $1292.64 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1812, while EUR/GBP rose 0.12% to 0.9083.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 93.03.
