Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 1.13% to hit a new 52-week low.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which rose 2.28% or 0.45 points to trade at 20.15 at the close. Meanwhile, Randstad NV (AS:RAND) added 0.59% or 0.23 points to end at 39.35 and ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) was up 0.19% or 0.04 points to 21.21 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 5.53% or 5.080 points to trade at 86.780 at the close. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) declined 2.47% or 1.30 points to end at 51.42 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was down 2.34% or 0.605 points to 25.220.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 94 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.10% to 19.08.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 4.78% or 2.40 to $47.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 3.59% or 2.14 to hit $57.47 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.30 to trade at $1253.10 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1367, while EUR/GBP fell 0.08% to 0.8988.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 96.502.
