Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa), which rose 0.65% or 0.190 points to trade at 29.285 at the close. Meanwhile, Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) added 0.29% or 0.07 points to end at 24.55 and Unilever NV DRC (AS:UNc) was up 0.21% or 0.10 points to 48.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which fell 5.09% or 0.16 points to trade at 3.00 at the close. ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) declined 4.80% or 1.82 points to end at 36.10 and NN Group NV (AS:NN) was down 3.83% or 1.47 points to 36.90.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 108 to 28 and 2 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.74% to 16.18 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 2.45% or 1.66 to $66.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.42% or 0.32 to hit $75.00 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.20 to trade at $1302.50 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1552, while EUR/GBP fell 0.17% to 0.8718.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.41% at 94.75.
