Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Technology Hardware & Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.89%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Aegon NV (AS:AEGN), which rose 1.10% or 0.051 points to trade at 4.707 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 0.40% or 0.115 points to end at 28.595 and WFD Unibail Rodamco NV (AS:URW) was up 0.36% or 0.55 points to 153.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which fell 3.66% or 0.708 points to trade at 18.620 at the close. Relx PLC (AS:REL) declined 2.83% or 0.580 points to end at 19.880 and Adyen NV (AS:ADYEN) was down 2.43% or 17.60 points to 708.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 92 to 39 and 12 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.70% to 12.78.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 3.16% or 2.01 to $61.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 2.30% or 1.66 to hit $70.52 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.91% or 11.65 to trade at $1272.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1179, while EUR/GBP rose 0.05% to 0.8582.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 97.553.
