Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.85%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Relx NV (AS:RELN), which rose 1.03% or 0.185 points to trade at 18.105 at the close. Meanwhile, ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) added 0.83% or 0.28 points to end at 34.18 and Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) was up 0.10% or 0.030 points to 29.945 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT), which fell 5.01% or 1.15 points to trade at 21.81 at the close. ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) declined 2.90% or 4.95 points to end at 165.80 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) was down 2.27% or 1.96 points to 84.24.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 107 to 25 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) fell to 52-week lows; down 5.01% or 1.15 to 21.81.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 8.20% to 15.94.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.99% or 0.72 to $73.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.10% or 0.08 to hit $77.38 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.35% or 4.40 to trade at $1251.70 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.1578, while EUR/GBP rose 0.41% to 0.8846.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 94.92.
