Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Technology sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which rose 2.05% or 0.17 points to trade at 8.40 at the close. Meanwhile, SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) added 1.43% or 0.21 points to end at 14.86 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 0.47% or 0.125 points to 26.975 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG), which fell 2.74% or 0.91 points to trade at 32.15 at the close. Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) declined 1.71% or 1.27 points to end at 73.11 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was down 1.56% or 1.200 points to 75.870.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 78 to 44 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) rose to 3-years highs; up 0.47% or 0.125 to 26.975.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 15.28% to 11.15.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.66% or 0.38 to $57.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.67% or 0.43 to hit $64.23 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.52% or 6.60 to trade at $1270.80 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1879, while EUR/GBP rose 0.27% to 0.8868.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.88.
