Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Healthcare and Consumer Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Royal Dutch Shell A (AMS:RDSa), which rose 1.91% or 0.50 points to trade at 26.74 at the close. Meanwhile, Arcelormittal (AMS:ISPA) added 0.68% or 0.06 points to end at 9.48 and Vopak (AMS:VOPA) was up 0.67% or 0.31 points to 46.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Altice SA (AMS:ATCE), which fell 4.81% or 6.25 points to trade at 123.75 at the close. Ahold Kon (AMS:AHLN) declined 3.69% or 0.70 points to end at 18.25 and Akzo Nobel (AMS:AKZO) was down 1.71% or 1.19 points to 68.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 166 to 76 and 4 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.97% to 21.52.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 1.25% or 0.76 to $60.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.57% or 1.01 to hit $63.44 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.31% or 3.70 to trade at $1172.90 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.10% to 1.1179, while EUR/GBP rose 0.46% to 0.7133.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 95.66.
