Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX lost 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which rose 1.77% or 0.049 points to trade at 2.825 at the close. Meanwhile, Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) added 1.36% or 3.00 points to end at 223.20 and Vopak (AS:VOPA) was up 1.12% or 0.50 points to 45.31 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which fell 2.10% or 0.151 points to trade at 7.046 at the close. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 1.48% or 0.200 points to end at 13.325 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) was down 1.16% or 0.17 points to 14.96.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 69 to 55 and 12 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 5.18% to 16.31.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.65% or 0.35 to $53.71 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.35% or 0.20 to hit $56.76 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.39% or 15.85 to trade at $1156.75 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.0480, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.8570.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.47% at 102.75.
