Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Healthcare, Telecoms and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX declined 0.26% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which rose 2.68% or 0.93 points to trade at 35.42 at the close. Meanwhile, Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) added 0.94% or 0.71 points to end at 76.49 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 0.64% or 0.50 points to 78.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 2.18% or 0.74 points to trade at 33.46 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.98% or 0.24 points to end at 11.88 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was down 1.48% or 1.260 points to 84.110.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 76 to 50 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) rose to all time highs; gaining 0.94% or 0.71 to 76.49. Shares in Altice NV (AS:ATCA) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.98% or 0.24 to 11.88.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.91% to 11.07.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.33% or 0.19 to $57.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.79% or 0.51 to hit $63.76 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.50% or 6.45 to trade at $1275.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.24% to 1.1582, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8806.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 94.85.
