Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Telecoms, Consumer Services and Consumer Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.14%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 1.68% or 0.490 points to trade at 29.700 at the close. Meanwhile, Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) added 1.28% or 0.232 points to end at 18.368 and Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) was up 1.19% or 0.68 points to 58.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which fell 2.48% or 0.95 points to trade at 37.30 at the close. Wolters Kluwer (AS:WLSNc) declined 2.36% or 1.02 points to end at 42.12 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was down 2.33% or 0.22 points to 9.04.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 66 to 49 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.19% or 0.68 to 58.00.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.28% to 10.89.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.38% or 0.25 to $65.86 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.47% or 0.33 to hit $70.86 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.32% or 4.30 to trade at $1360.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.60% to 1.2484, while EUR/GBP rose 0.48% to 0.8756.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.49% at 88.58.
