Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.02% or 1.780 points to trade at 60.640 at the close. Meanwhile, ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) added 1.78% or 0.193 points to end at 11.008 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 1.53% or 0.62 points to 41.22 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 4.97% or 3.09 points to trade at 59.08 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 2.44% or 0.40 points to end at 16.00 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was down 2.27% or 0.078 points to 3.362.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 110 to 58 and 13 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.17% to 17.97.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 3.53% or 1.62 to $44.31 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 3.46% or 1.66 to hit $46.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 1.05% or 14.05 to trade at $1330.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1216, while EUR/GBP fell 0.65% to 0.8616.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.20% at 95.40.
