Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Financials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 1.06% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 4.46% or 0.678 points to trade at 15.892 at the close. Meanwhile, Aalberts Industries NV (AS:AALB) added 2.50% or 0.86 points to end at 35.22 and Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) was up 2.47% or 1.01 points to 42.19 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 4.15% or 7.000 points to trade at 161.850 at the close. ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL) declined 1.24% or 0.44 points to end at 35.17 and Takeaway Com Holding BV (AS:TKWY) was down 0.68% or 0.5500 points to 80.3500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 91 to 36 and 12 ended unchanged.
Shares in Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.47% or 1.01 to 42.19.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 6.08% to 11.49.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.98% or 0.55 to $56.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.92% or 0.58 to hit $63.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.47% or 6.65 to trade at $1420.25 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.50% to 1.1152, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.8960.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.47% at 97.398.
