Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.62% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 7.37% or 1.690 points to trade at 24.630 at the close. Meanwhile, ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML) added 1.96% or 2.85 points to end at 148.30 and Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) was up 1.02% or 0.73 points to 72.23 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 2.70% or 0.89 points to trade at 32.10 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 1.85% or 1.620 points to end at 86.080 and ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) was down 0.57% or 0.090 points to 15.575.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 65 to 57 and 11 ended unchanged.

The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 7.50% to 9.74 a new 6-months low.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.72% or 0.87 to $51.47 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 1.76% or 0.99 to hit $57.24 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.54% or 6.98 to trade at $1303.48 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.12% to 1.1845, while EUR/GBP fell 0.22% to 0.8900.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.16% at 92.79.
