Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.38%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ASR Nederland NV (AS:ASRNL), which rose 2.44% or 0.94 points to trade at 39.44 at the close. Meanwhile, ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 1.14% or 0.27 points to end at 23.94 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was up 1.14% or 0.92 points to 81.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randstad NV (AS:RAND), which fell 0.73% or 0.40 points to trade at 54.42 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.53% or 0.480 points to end at 89.260 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) was down 0.38% or 0.020 points to 5.194.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 62 to 59 and 14 ended unchanged.
Shares in Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.14% or 0.92 to 81.84.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.21% to 11.36.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 1.01% or 0.69 to $69.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.00% or 0.76 to hit $77.05 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.25% or 3.00 to trade at $1211.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1698, while EUR/GBP fell 0.89% to 0.9005.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.06% at 94.57.
