Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.35% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which rose 2.09% or 0.051 points to trade at 2.486 at the close. Meanwhile, Heineken (AS:HEIN) added 1.81% or 1.66 points to end at 93.54 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 1.78% or 1.600 points to 91.340 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND), which fell 3.30% or 1.72 points to trade at 50.34 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) declined 2.08% or 0.535 points to end at 25.155 and Philips Lighting NV (AS:LIGHT) was down 1.79% or 0.40 points to 22.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 69 to 55 and 13 ended unchanged.
Shares in Heineken (AS:HEIN) rose to all time highs; rising 1.81% or 1.66 to 93.54.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 2.92% to 12.01.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.04% or 0.03 to $68.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.36% or 0.26 to hit $72.84 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.44% or 5.40 to trade at $1229.40 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.51% to 1.1702, while EUR/GBP fell 0.21% to 0.8927.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.60% at 94.41.
