Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.20% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 4.13% or 1.41 points to trade at 35.38 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 4.02% or 3.350 points to end at 86.640 and ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT) was up 2.82% or 0.695 points to 25.310 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA), which fell 1.59% or 0.59 points to trade at 36.58 at the close. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.40% or 3.00 points to end at 211.85 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was down 1.16% or 0.225 points to 19.165.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 69 to 57 and 12 ended unchanged.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.13% to 10.88.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.15% or 0.08 to $54.30 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.56% or 0.34 to hit $60.60 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 6.28 to trade at $1276.78 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.16% to 1.1627, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8762.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 94.60.
