Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.20% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 2.66% or 0.595 points to trade at 22.940 at the close. Meanwhile, Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) added 1.79% or 1.26 points to end at 71.50 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 1.77% or 0.89 points to 51.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 3.01% or 1.02 points to trade at 32.99 at the close. SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO) declined 1.75% or 0.27 points to end at 14.90 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was down 1.60% or 0.28 points to 16.92.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 65 to 62 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gemalto (AS:GTO) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.01% or 1.02 to 32.99. Shares in Koninklijke DSM NV (AS:DSMN) rose to all time highs; up 1.79% or 1.26 to 71.50. Shares in Unilever NV (AS:UNc) rose to all time highs; up 1.77% or 0.89 to 51.28.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.71% to 10.53.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.11% or 0.57 to $50.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.91% or 0.52 to hit $56.42 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.52% or 6.66 to trade at $1295.56 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.13% to 1.1843, while EUR/GBP fell 0.45% to 0.8931.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.89.
