Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Consumer Goods and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.19% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd), which rose 1.89% or 0.49 points to trade at 26.39 at the close. Meanwhile, Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) added 1.52% or 0.81 points to end at 54.14 and Koninklijke Philips NV (AS:PHG) was up 1.31% or 0.45 points to 34.82 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were ASML Holding NV (AS:ASML), which fell 2.32% or 3.45 points to trade at 145.05 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) declined 2.29% or 0.73 points to end at 31.16 and Akzo Nobel (AS:AKZO) was down 1.84% or 1.44 points to 76.91.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 75 to 50 and 7 ended unchanged.
Shares in ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) rose to all time highs; rising 1.89% or 0.49 to 26.39. Shares in Gemalto (AS:GTO) fell to 5-year lows; falling 2.29% or 0.73 to 31.16.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was unchanged 0.04% to 10.42.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $51.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.22% or 0.13 to hit $58.01 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.12% or 1.48 to trade at $1284.72 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.23% to 1.1793, while EUR/GBP rose 0.16% to 0.8935.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 93.28.
