Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.12%.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 0.92% or 0.14 points to trade at 15.94 at the close. Meanwhile, Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) added 0.91% or 0.027 points to end at 2.984 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 0.68% or 0.34 points to 50.39 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which fell 2.76% or 0.96 points to trade at 34.02 at the close. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.35% or 0.23 points to end at 17.19 and Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) was down 1.22% or 0.66 points to 53.61.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 70 to 57 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Gemalto (AS:GTO) fell to 5-year lows; losing 2.76% or 0.96 to 34.02.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.38% to 11.05.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.20% or 0.10 to $51.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.23% or 0.13 to hit $56.48 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.50% or 6.50 to trade at $1287.30 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.28% to 1.1841, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8965.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 92.93.
