Investing.com – Netherlands stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX gained 0.01% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the AEX were Gemalto (AS:GTO), which rose 2.43% or 0.81 points to trade at 34.21 at the close. Meanwhile, Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 1.45% or 0.400 points to end at 27.915 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.79% or 0.670 points to 85.370 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SBM Offshore NV (AS:SBMO), which fell 13.79% or 2.15 points to trade at 13.40 at the close. Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) declined 6.06% or 2.23 points to end at 34.50 and Altice NV (AS:ATCA) was down 3.16% or 0.40 points to 12.12.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange by 76 to 52 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 1.45% or 0.400 to 27.915. Shares in Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.06% or 2.23 to 34.50. Shares in Altice NV (AS:ATCA) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.16% or 0.40 to 12.12.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 1.63% to 10.65.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 2.61% or 1.45 to $57.09 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 2.93% or 1.82 to hit $63.89 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.07% or 13.64 to trade at $1282.84 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1606, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.8826.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 94.69.
