Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Telecoms Services, Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC fell 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (BMV:VOLARA), which rose 2.76% or 0.32 points to trade at 11.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (BMV:LABB) added 2.33% or 0.39 points to end at 17.11 and Grupo Comercial Chedraui, SAB De CV (BMV:CHDRAUIB) was up 1.53% or 1.94 points to 128.48 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Bimbo, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:BIMBOA), which fell 3.42% or 2.33 points to trade at 65.77 at the close. Megacable Holdings, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV:MEGACPO) declined 2.72% or 1.30 points to end at 46.44 and Becle SA (BMV:CUERVO) was down 2.18% or 0.76 points to 34.04.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 118 to 103 and 14 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.62% or 14.45 to $2,345.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.16% or 0.94 to hit $81.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.02% or 0.86 to trade at $85.19 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.80% to 17.96, while EUR/MXN fell 0.53% to 19.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 105.14.
