Investing.com – Mexico stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Materials, Consumer Staples and Telecommunication Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Mexico, the IPC fell 0.27%.
The best performers of the session on the IPC were Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALFAA), which rose 2.55% or 0.780 points to trade at 31.500 at the close. Meanwhile, Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEXV) added 2.54% or 0.920 points to end at 37.350 and Genomma Lab Internacional SAB De CV (MX:LABB) was up 2.45% or 0.530 points to 22.100 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Industrias CH, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ICHB), which fell 2.73% or 1.810 points to trade at 64.520 at the close. Grupo Mexico, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GMEXICOB) declined 2.35% or 1.090 points to end at 45.220 and Compartamos, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:GENTERA) was down 2.15% or 0.640 points to 29.260.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 82 to 64 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Wal - Mart De Mexico, SAB De CV (MX:WALMEXV) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.54% or 0.920 to 37.350.
Gold for April delivery was up 0.59% or 7.10 to $1204.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude Oil for delivery in April rose 3.64% or 1.79 to hit $51.08 a barrel, while the April Brent Oil contract rose 5.56% or 3.26 to trade at $61.92 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.11% to 14.9330, while EUR/MXN rose 0.32% to 16.9660.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 94.24.
