Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Materials, Consumer Staples and Industrials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 1.25% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Cemex SAB de CV (MX:CMXCPO), which rose 3.77% or 0.480 points to trade at 13.200 at the close. Meanwhile, Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) added 3.24% or 0.640 points to end at 20.400 and Grupo Aeroportuario Del Sureste (MX:ASURB) was up 2.61% or 8.76 points to 343.83 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which fell 2.01% or 12.78 points to trade at 623.00 at the close. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX:RA) declined 1.77% or 2.03 points to end at 112.56 and Alpek, S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALPEKA) was down 0.80% or 0.250 points to 30.890.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 147 to 130 and 10 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.06% or 0.70 to $1224.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 1.27% or 0.86 to hit $68.75 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 0.79% or 0.58 to trade at $73.64 a barrel.
USD/MXN was down 0.12% to 18.8610, while EUR/MXN fell 0.20% to 22.0345.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 94.38.
