Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Materials, Industrials and Telecoms Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC added 1.21% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Coca Cola Femsa SAB De CV (MX:KOFL), which rose 4.39% or 5.75 points to trade at 136.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Mexichem , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:MEXCHEM) added 4.29% or 2.060 points to end at 50.120 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (MX:PENOLES) was up 3.91% or 14.84 points to 394.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB De CV (MX:SANMEXB), which fell 2.39% or 0.700 points to trade at 28.630 at the close. Grupo Financiero Banorte (MX:GFNORTEO) declined 1.70% or 1.770 points to end at 102.380 and Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) was down 1.05% or 0.170 points to 15.970.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 205 to 93 and 16 ended unchanged.
Shares in Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB De CV (MX:SANMEXB) fell to 52-week lows; losing 2.39% or 0.700 to 28.630. Shares in Gentera SAB de CV (MX:GENTERA) fell to 5-year lows; falling 1.05% or 0.170 to 15.970.
Gold Futures for February delivery was up 1.32% or 16.40 to $1258.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.79% or 0.45 to hit $56.69 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.08% or 0.05 to trade at $62.75 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.00% to 19.0107, while EUR/MXN fell 0.01% to 22.4844.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.70% at 93.40.
