Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms Services, Healthcare and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC rose 0.93% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Televisa SAB Unit (MX:TLVACPO), which rose 4.50% or 3.25 points to trade at 75.53 at the close. Meanwhile, America Movil SAB de CV (MX:AMXL) added 3.36% or 0.540 points to end at 16.620 and GMexico Transportes SA de CV (MX:GMXT) was up 3.22% or 0.880 points to 28.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Grupo Elektra , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ELEKTRA), which fell 2.38% or 12.61 points to trade at 516.23 at the close. BanRegio Grupo Financiero SAB de CV (MX:RA) declined 1.96% or 2.07 points to end at 103.36 and Alsea , S.A.B. De C.V. (MX:ALSEA) was down 1.71% or 1.110 points to 63.660.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 165 to 131 and 12 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.90 to $1306.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.54% or 0.36 to hit $67.00 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.07% or 0.82 to trade at $75.92 a barrel.
USD/MXN was up 0.96% to 20.8404, while EUR/MXN fell 0.82% to 24.1415.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.36% at 94.83.
