Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Technology and Trade & Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI fell 0.64%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO), which rose 1.73% or 1.12 points to trade at 65.72 at the close. Meanwhile, DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) added 0.93% or 0.05 points to end at 5.43 and Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB) was up 0.65% or 0.10 points to 15.54 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS), which fell 3.13% or 0.05 points to trade at 1.55 at the close. Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) declined 3.09% or 0.17 points to end at 5.33 and Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) was down 2.31% or 0.07 points to 2.96.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 398 to 192 and 45 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.70% or 0.34 to $47.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.90% or 0.49 to hit $54.13 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 1.19% or 12.90 to trade at $1098.90 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 0.10% to 2.7887, while USD/MYR fell 0.06% to 3.8190.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.55% at 96.81.
