Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Technology, Trade & Services and Consumer Products sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI declined 0.03%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB), which rose 2.43% or 0.13 points to trade at 5.48 at the close. Meanwhile, Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) added 2.36% or 0.07 points to end at 3.04 and British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO) was up 1.93% or 1.26 points to 66.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were PPB Group Bhd (KL:PEPT), which fell 2.46% or 0.38 points to trade at 15.04 at the close. Tenaga Nasional Bhd (KL:TENA) declined 2.37% or 0.30 points to end at 12.36 and KLCC Property Holdings Bhd (KL:KLCC) was down 0.85% or 0.06 points to 7.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 241 to 232 and 48 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.16% or 0.59 to $52.01 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.16% or 0.67 to hit $57.78 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 0.24% or 2.70 to trade at $1144.70 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.09% to 2.7849, while USD/MYR fell 0.06% to 3.8044.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 97.59.
