Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Industrials and Consumer Products sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI rose 0.36%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were Hong Leong Financial Group Bhd (KL:HLCB), which rose 4.06% or 0.62 points to trade at 15.90 at the close. Meanwhile, British American Tobacco (Malaysia) Bhd (KL:BATO) added 2.09% or 1.34 points to end at 65.34 and YTL Corporation Bhd (KL:YTLS) was up 1.91% or 0.03 points to 1.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM), which fell 2.70% or 0.15 points to trade at 5.40 at the close. Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd (KL:ASTR) declined 1.66% or 0.05 points to end at 2.97 and UMW Holdings Bhd (KL:UMWS) was down 0.78% or 0.08 points to 10.12.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 285 to 259 and 55 ended unchanged.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.58% or 0.30 to $52.73 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.62% or 0.36 to hit $58.31 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.03% or 0.30 to trade at $1153.80 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was down 0.21% to 2.7896, while USD/MYR fell 0.10% to 3.8016.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.03% at 96.77.
