Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 3.99%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (T:5019), which rose 0.32% or 9.0 points to trade at 2784.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kao Corp. (T:4452) added 0.10% or 7.0 points to end at 7144.0 and Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.0 points to 446.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021), which fell 7.80% or 490.0 points to trade at 5790.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) declined 7.51% or 710.0 points to end at 8750.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) was down 6.53% or 580.0 points to 8300.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3099 to 518 and 139 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 26.53.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 1.02% or 0.65 to $62.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.98% or 0.65 to hit $65.46 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.14% or 20.30 to trade at $1755.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.11% to 106.09, while EUR/JPY fell 0.45% to 128.74.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 90.472.
