Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 2.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Casio Computer Co., Ltd. (T:6952), which rose 7.99% or 100.0 points to trade at 1351.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602) added 2.10% or 90.0 points to end at 4385.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) was up 1.75% or 80.0 points to 4650.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801), which fell 12.00% or 348.0 points to trade at 2553.0 at the close. Fujikura Ltd. (T:5803) declined 9.90% or 40.0 points to end at 364.0 and Asahi Kasei Corp. (T:3407) was down 7.80% or 85.5 points to 1010.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3210 to 398 and 124 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.55.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 1.52% or 0.82 to $54.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 1.92% or 1.16 to hit $61.66 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 1.24% or 17.75 to trade at $1450.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.39% to 106.91, while EUR/JPY fell 0.32% to 118.57.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 98.093.
