Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 2.03%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were TOTO Ltd. (TYO:5332), which rose 2.36% or 97.00 points to trade at 4,204.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tosoh Corp. (TYO:4042) added 1.58% or 33.50 points to end at 2,145.00 and Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6504) was up 1.37% or 134.00 points to 9,929.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501), which fell 5.83% or 59.00 points to trade at 954.30 at the close. Hoya Cor (TYO:7741) declined 5.76% or 1,065.00 points to end at 17,450.00 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:8035) was down 5.60% or 2,210.00 points to 37,400.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2477 to 1185 and 220 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tosoh Corp. (TYO:4042) rose to 52-week highs; rising 1.58% or 33.50 to 2,145.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 20.12.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.14% or 0.12 to $86.47 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.11% or 0.10 to hit $90.75 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.05% or 1.05 to trade at $2,307.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 151.41, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 164.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 104.04.
