Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Financial Services and Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 1.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sharp Corp. (T:6753), which rose 1.49% or 2.0 points to trade at 136.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Soda Co., Ltd. (T:4041) added 1.42% or 6.0 points to end at 430.0 and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. (T:8802) was up 1.12% or 21.0 points to 1888.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fukuoka Financial Group, Inc. (T:8354), which fell 5.23% or 23.0 points to trade at 417.0 at the close. Tosoh Corp. (T:4042) declined 5.21% or 34.0 points to end at 618.0 and Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) was down 4.99% or 42.0 points to 800.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1728 to 265 and 68 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.99% to 22.14.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.17% or 0.56 to $47.27 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 1.28% or 0.64 to hit $49.17 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.07% or 0.95 to trade at $1326.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.15% to 100.88, while EUR/JPY fell 0.26% to 113.07.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 95.49.
