Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Rubber, Shipbuilding and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 1.32%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706), which rose 16.76% or 995.0 points to trade at 6930.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (T:5232) added 4.52% or 22.0 points to end at 509.0 and Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) was up 4.44% or 202.6 points to 4770.1 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 8.33% or 66.0 points to trade at 726.0 at the close. Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) declined 5.41% or 16.0 points to end at 279.5 and Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) was down 4.76% or 11.0 points to 220.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2212 to 1128 and 167 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 6.02% to 19.97.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.07% or 0.04 to $56.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.08% or 0.05 to hit $63.57 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.72 to trade at $1276.92 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.13% to 113.41, while EUR/JPY fell 0.29% to 132.06.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 94.47.
