Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Insurance, Mining and Machinery sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.98% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099), which rose 3.05% or 34.0 points to trade at 1149.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865) added 2.81% or 21.0 points to end at 768.0 and Nichirei Corp. (T:2871) was up 1.94% or 56.0 points to 2940.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:7762), which fell 9.17% or 76.0 points to trade at 753.0 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) declined 7.36% or 43.0 points to end at 541.0 and Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214) was down 4.65% or 195.0 points to 4000.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2620 to 700 and 151 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) fell to 5-year lows; losing 7.36% or 43.0 to 541.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.25% to 16.26 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.37% or 0.18 to $48.64 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.50% or 0.26 to hit $51.84 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.57% or 7.34 to trade at $1286.66 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.54% to 109.78, while EUR/JPY rose 0.33% to 129.51.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 93.23.
