Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.94%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5202), which rose 2.87% or 11.00 points to trade at 394.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NTN Corp. (TYO:6472) added 2.32% or 6.00 points to end at 265.00 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003) was up 2.29% or 8.00 points to 358.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Recruit Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:6098), which fell 6.58% or 324.00 points to trade at 4,600.00 at the close. Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) declined 4.03% or 10.00 points to end at 238.00 and CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) was down 3.97% or 57.00 points to 1,378.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2812 to 744 and 214 ended unchanged.
Shares in Unitika, Ltd. (TYO:3103) fell to 52-week lows; down 4.03% or 10.00 to 238.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.93% to 23.90.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.96% or 1.06 to $109.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.96% or 1.06 to hit $109.72 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.35% or 6.52 to trade at $1,854.32 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.31% to 127.47, while EUR/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 136.69.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.25% at 101.84.
