Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.93%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were T&D Holdings, Inc. (T:8795), which rose 3.11% or 46.0 points to trade at 1523.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Z Holdings Corp (T:4689) added 2.67% or 14.4 points to end at 554.1 and Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc (T:8750) was up 2.54% or 55.5 points to 2243.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Komatsu Ltd. (T:6301), which fell 5.25% or 160.0 points to trade at 2890.0 at the close. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) declined 3.74% or 169.0 points to end at 4346.0 and Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531) was down 3.48% or 51.0 points to 1416.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2247 to 1237 and 256 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 18.10.
Crude oil for July delivery was down 0.67% or 0.48 to $71.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.73% or 0.54 to hit $73.85 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 2.79% or 51.85 to trade at $1809.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 110.62, while EUR/JPY fell 0.46% to 132.15.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.49% at 91.653.
