Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Insurance, Paper & Pulp and Rubber sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.92%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Marubeni Corp. (TYO:8002), which rose 4.09% or 103.50 points to trade at 2,635.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sompo Holdings Inc (TYO:8630) added 4.08% or 258.00 points to end at 6,578.00 and Chiba Bank Ltd (TYO:8331) was up 3.80% or 32.80 points to 895.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which fell 6.86% or 1,365.00 points to trade at 18,530.00 at the close. Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:8035) declined 4.57% or 940.00 points to end at 19,620.00 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) was down 4.12% or 290.00 points to 6,746.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2145 to 1489 and 214 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.14% to 20.09.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.39% or 0.28 to $72.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 0.41% or 0.32 to hit $76.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.29% or 5.60 to trade at $1,939.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.07% to 141.78, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 155.77.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 101.71.
