Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Chemical, Transport and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501), which rose 5.27% or 29.00 points to trade at 579.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (TYO:9412) added 3.64% or 19.00 points to end at 541.00 and Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631) was up 3.03% or 90.00 points to 3,065.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5214), which fell 4.31% or 119.00 points to trade at 2,640.00 at the close. AGC Inc (TYO:5201) declined 4.17% or 210.00 points to end at 4,830.00 and Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (TYO:9147) was down 3.77% or 290.00 points to 7,410.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1873 to 1676 and 220 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.31% to 21.75.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.36% or 0.40 to $111.36 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.41% or 0.47 to hit $113.33 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 2.85 to trade at $1,818.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 136.15, while EUR/JPY fell 0.17% to 142.93.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.13% at 104.40.
