Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.86%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which rose 6.45% or 403.0 points to trade at 6647.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Express Co., Ltd. (T:9062) added 6.02% or 350.0 points to end at 6160.0 and NGK Insulators, Ltd. (T:5333) was up 5.77% or 89.0 points to 1632.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 16.24% or 57.0 points to trade at 294.0 at the close. Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902) declined 11.39% or 117.0 points to end at 910.0 and Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5201) was down 7.20% or 260.0 points to 3350.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2216 to 1248 and 241 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 15.10.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.52% or 0.30 to $58.35 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.71% or 0.46 to hit $65.09 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.11% or 1.60 to trade at $1431.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 108.56, while EUR/JPY fell 0.02% to 121.09.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.00% at 97.810.
