Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Rubber, Warehousing and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.84%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920), which rose 22.55% or 5,000.00 points to trade at 27,170.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Isuzu Motors, Ltd. (TYO:7202) added 8.88% or 164.00 points to end at 2,011.50 and Nitori Holdings Co Ltd (TYO:9843) was up 8.14% or 1,500.00 points to 19,920.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436), which fell 15.82% or 317.00 points to trade at 1,687.00 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (TYO:4911) declined 15.52% or 700.00 points to end at 3,810.00 and Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976) was down 10.31% or 410.00 points to 3,566.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1863 to 1853 and 161 ended unchanged.
Shares in SUMCO Corp. (TYO:3436) fell to 52-week lows; losing 15.82% or 317.00 to 1,687.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 12.05% to 45.02.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.01% or 0.01 to $75.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.18% or 0.14 to hit $78.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 6.15 to trade at $2,438.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.26% to 146.32, while EUR/JPY fell 0.12% to 160.00.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.15% at 102.84.
