Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Transportation Equipment, Transport and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.80%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211), which rose 5.83% or 36.50 points to trade at 662.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) added 5.34% or 222.00 points to end at 4,382.00 and Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:7261) was up 5.32% or 93.50 points to 1,852.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Electron Ltd. (TYO:8035), which fell 5.23% or 1,145.00 points to trade at 20,750.00 at the close. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) declined 4.42% or 645.00 points to end at 13,935.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) was down 4.03% or 670.00 points to 15,955.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2122 to 1536 and 217 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211) rose to 3-years highs; rising 5.83% or 36.50 to 662.60. Shares in Nippon Yusen K.K (TYO:9101) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.34% or 222.00 to 4,382.00. Shares in Mazda Motor Corp (TYO:7261) rose to 5-year highs; up 5.32% or 93.50 to 1,852.50.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.50% to 15.99 a new 3-months low.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.60% or 0.54 to $91.12 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.35% or 0.33 to hit $94.76 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.03% or 0.65 to trade at $1,954.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 147.78, while EUR/JPY rose 0.01% to 157.83.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 104.83.
