Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.77%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fanuc Corp. (T:6954), which rose 2.23% or 445.0 points to trade at 20410.0 at the close. Meanwhile, SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) added 1.86% or 27.0 points to end at 1477.0 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) was up 1.69% or 80.0 points to 4820.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503), which fell 5.71% or 79.5 points to trade at 1314.0 at the close. Sumitomo Corp. (T:8053) declined 4.60% or 81.5 points to end at 1692.0 and The Chiba Bank, Ltd. (T:8331) was down 4.42% or 26.0 points to 562.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2604 to 985 and 155 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 17.17.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.44% or 0.25 to $56.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.73% or 0.46 to hit $62.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.61% or 9.25 to trade at $1505.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.00% to 107.83, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 117.66.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.947.
