Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Precision Instruments, Railway & Bus and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.76%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503), which rose 3.51% or 54.5 points to trade at 1609.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9502) added 3.26% or 51.0 points to end at 1617.5 and Keio Corp. (T:9008) was up 2.36% or 130.0 points to 5640.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735), which fell 7.96% or 630.0 points to trade at 7280.0 at the close. Advantest Corp. (T:6857) declined 7.17% or 189.0 points to end at 2446.0 and Tokyo Electron Ltd. (T:8035) was down 5.95% or 1070.0 points to 16915.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2212 to 1167 and 222 ended unchanged.
Shares in Keio Corp. (T:9008) rose to all time highs; gaining 2.36% or 130.0 to 5640.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.61% to 16.90.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.30% or 0.20 to $67.97 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.25% or 0.19 to hit $76.69 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.50 to trade at $1206.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.04% to 110.71, while EUR/JPY rose 0.17% to 128.94.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.86.
