Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.62%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kao Corp. (TYO:4452), which rose 2.42% or 134.00 points to trade at 5,675.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc (TYO:8306) added 2.29% or 29.00 points to end at 1,294.50 and Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253) was up 2.14% or 51.50 points to 2,453.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7011), which fell 5.01% or 442.00 points to trade at 8,382.00 at the close. CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) declined 3.84% or 35.50 points to end at 889.90 and Sumitomo Metal Mining Co., Ltd. (TYO:5713) was down 3.78% or 170.00 points to 4,322.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1968 to 1658 and 264 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.88% to 16.87 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.77% or 0.58 to $74.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.67% or 0.54 to hit $79.94 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 7.55 to trade at $2,010.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.33% to 148.95, while EUR/JPY fell 0.25% to 163.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 103.21.
