Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.59%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SUMCO Corp. (T:3436), which rose 6.86% or 123.0 points to trade at 1916.0 at the close. Meanwhile, DIC Corp (T:4631) added 6.18% or 182.0 points to end at 3125.0 and JGC Corp. (T:1963) was up 4.06% or 62.0 points to 1590.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (T:7201), which fell 9.64% or 54.8 points to trade at 513.7 at the close. Daiwa House Industry Co., Ltd. (T:1925) declined 6.24% or 222.0 points to end at 3334.0 and Ebara Corp. (T:6361) was down 6.15% or 191.0 points to 2914.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2496 to 1093 and 190 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (T:7201) fell to 5-year lows; losing 9.64% or 54.8 to 513.7.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 16.10.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.25% or 0.13 to $51.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.20% or 0.11 to hit $56.45 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.06% or 0.95 to trade at $1577.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.00% to 109.81, while EUR/JPY fell 0.03% to 119.00.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 98.987.
