Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.53%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506), which rose 7.35% or 137.0 points to trade at 2001.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) added 4.69% or 100.0 points to end at 2231.0 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) was up 3.31% or 246.0 points to 7686.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which fell 8.18% or 34.5 points to trade at 387.5 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) declined 4.94% or 148.0 points to end at 2845.0 and CyberAgent Inc (T:4751) was down 4.35% or 155.0 points to 3405.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1840 to 1669 and 245 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.37.
Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.46% or 0.26 to $56.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.29% or 0.18 to hit $62.26 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.08% or 1.15 to trade at $1470.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 108.64, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 120.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.00% at 97.665.
